How I started my Youtube channel
In July 2024, I was asked by Manchester United to photograph their away Kit for the 24-25 season, which was one of my biggest projects so far.
As a photographer, I always had an online presence on social media. I shared behind the scenes from photoshoots - as short form videos on stories - and my photography work as posts. It felt like this was an engaging way to interact with the community I have created on instagram and it was always very fun.
Being in the Photography industry for around 14 years now, I felt the need to share even more and be creative with my storytelling - especially when it comes to my work. I started doing YouTube only a few months ago, documenting stories about my work and my personal life.
Why have a Youtube Channel as a photographer
I filmed a Vlog-BTS Video during the Man United shoot-day, which coincidentally was shot at Too Young Too Simple Studio.
This, as a photographer ,or as any creative really, allows you to bring people further into your workflow, give them a chance to really get to know you, your Systems and your personality before ever getting to meet you.
That can be a massive advantage when it comes to promoting your work. Future clients or creatives can watch these videos and feel connected with you and like your personality and the way you work.
You basically develop what people call “a personal brand”, which can help you feel more approachable to potential clients and ultimately get hired more.
The difference between the connection that someone can develop with you from a 8-12 minute video compared to just some Instagram stories is massive! Nobody else is like you and people wanna see your unique personality. So creating long form content to document your journey as a creative is a no-brainer to me.
